A new Gallup poll on parliamentary party support shows the Social Democrats taking an upswing, while the Progressives have declined.

RÚV reports that support for the ruling coalition of the Progressives and the Independence Party is holding steady, at about 40%, from the same poll last month.

The Independence Party remains the party with the greatest support, with 25% of respondents saying they would vote for this party if elections were held today, down from 27% in the previous poll. Meanwhile, support for the Progressives has dropped from about 24% to 13%.

At the same time, Social Democrat support rose from 13% to 18%. Support for the Left-Greens bumped slightly upwards, from 12% to 13%, while support for Bright Future nearly doubled, from 8% to 16%. The Pirate Party also saw a modest rise, from 5% to 8%.

The poll was conducted from May 28 to June 29, with 58.8% responding.
